Chapter 1 Lily’s Story

“Please, Ms. Mary! I really want to see mum." pleaded Lily Tregenza.

"Please!”

“Yes, yes. I know you want to see your mother, Lily. But she really, really needs to rest for a few more weeks." replied Ms. Lucky Mary. Now, Lily was a little girl who lived in a grand mansion. It was a beautiful mansion that everyone who passed there oohed and aahed at it.

It was once owned by an unknown ancestor and then given to Lily’s great-great-great-great grandmother. Then her great-great-great grandmother. Then her great-great grandmother. Then her great grandmother. And then Lily’s grandmother. And then her aunt. And now her mother. Lily had always wondered who her unknown ancestor was.

Ms. Mary is Lily´s mother´s servant, also Lily´s. She is always very tidy-looking and neat with everything she does. That is one of the reasons why she is hired by Mrs. Sora Tregenza. She worked without complaint every day (which is another reason she was hired by Mrs. Tregenza).

They were living in a grand mansion, but not anymore. I mean yes, they are but not after two weeks. They are moving out. Why? Well, just a little while before now, their father disappeared. Yes - disappeared. Nobody even has a clue where he had gone. Not even the police knew.

Now, back to the story, this is why Lily´s mum does not want anyone to see her, not even her own child. After her husband had gone missing, she became quite ill.

Lily desperately wanted to see her, but Ms. Mary always gave the same, strict excuse, ‘your mother needs to rest’. It is the doctor's order. But Lily thinks it was just her own order. Ms. Tregenza was a beautiful woman before the accident. And she was kind to everyone just like her daughter is. She was always happy, smiling, and healthy. And she has long brownish hair and a tall figure. Everyone likes her.

But now, after the accident, she turned into a weary eyed, always exhausted woman. She became ill-healthy and restless and kept everyone out of her room, which she always stayed in, even for her mealtimes, which she changed into two meals a day. Lily’s father was a scientist. He worked hard and earned a suitable amount of money. He was a sleek person and always stayed up late at night to work on his computer. Lily barely sees him as he left exceedingly early in the morning to go to work and came back extremely late at night to sleep.

Back to where Lily´s father disappeared, this is exactly what happened. Lily and Ms. Tregenza went shopping and left their father at home working; when they came back, he was gone. They searched the whole house for him, but they found no lead to where he had disappeared. Then, as I said, they called the police to help search.

But the police came with the same unfortunate fate as Lily and her mother. That is when they phoned Mr. Toby Tregenza´s company to see if he went there, but the unlucky answer came as a NO.

Now they searched outside the house to where he might have gone, but still, there is no sign of him. They panicked and cried, wishing this had never happened as the police announced that Mr. Tregenza had disappeared. This is the disappointing part where the Tregenza household must move out. Since Lily´s father had disappeared, his work payment has been cut down.

Lily´s mother sold most of their properties when they were rich to make some profit. But soon enough, their money was all gone. Now they have nothing to sell except their gorgeous mansion. It is sad to leave their wonderful home that they had lived in for so many years. Now, they will have to move into a much smaller and older cottage. As you might feel, Lily is terribly upset to go away. And was much more upset to have her father kidnapped. And back to the beginning, she was also really upset to hear that her own mother won´t be able to see her for a few more weeks. Like weeks!

A few more weeks would seem like forever in her heart. It will be like years and centuries to wait. No matter how much she asked, she was not allowed to see her until they moved into their new home.

I may not have mentioned this before, but Lily was really beautiful in fact. She was very attractive indeed with her pretty blond hair flowing in the breeze as it went and her twinkly, blue eyes glittering in the sunlight wherever she went. Lily’s ten years old. Which means she’s still at a pretty young age. She is quite tall if you ask anybody. She was once the tallest in her class. Okay, always the tallest in her class. And once you’ve met her you will see that she was as kind as she looked.

Once, when Lily was eight, she went to the mall with her pocket money to buy a book that she really wanted. When she was walking, she saw a beggar alone homeless on a ripped blanket by a corner of a small shop. She felt so sorry for the beggar that she gave half of her pocket money to the beggar without thinking twice. Then she went back home with empty hands but a happy heart. Another time, she was playing in the snow in wintertime when she saw a really cute bird in the snow, trying to walk. She saw a cut in its wing and immediately felt sorry for it, so she took it inside and cared for it until the wound healed. She let it go when that happened. So, as you can see, Lily is a very sweet girl with a sweet heart.

She and her family lived in Minnesota for a very long time. Her whole family was from Minnesota. Lily loved Minnesota when it’s winter. She sometimes goes ice skating or plays ice hockey with her friends. But all is going to be different soon. She was not going to be there this winter. She is going to be at her new house. Lily kept wondering what their new home would be like since nobody had photographs to show her. Would it be pretty? Would it be in the middle of an enchanted wood? Or would it be dusty and crooked with cobwebs hanging everywhere? Would she like it? Or would she not?
